X-RAY DISCIPLINES

The X-ray Compliance Section uses discipline designations to better identify the registration and use of x-ray equipment. These disciplines are also associated with three different fee schedules (see X-ray Fee Schedule).

H – Hospital – Hospitals are defined as medical facilities where design and staffing permit the overnight stay of patients.

M – Medical – This discipline includes allopathic and osteopathic physician offices, clinics and mobile medical practices.

C – Chiropractic – Chiropractors’ offices with x-ray machines are included here.

MM – Mammography – Mammography facilities are issued separate registrations which include only mammographic x-ray machines.

D – Dental – All dentists who have intraoral, cephalometric and panographic x-ray equipment are registered under this discipline.

P – Podiatry – Podiatric practices with x-ray units have this designation.

E – Education – This discipline includes the major universities and other training institutions.

I – Industrial – This discipline includes major manufacturing facilities who utilize x-ray in their production process.

V – Veterinary – This discipline includes the various uses by veterinarians of x-rays on birds and animals and at the zoos.
